As a person who has experienced both your own and American culture Essay
As a person who has experienced both your own and American culture - Essay Example On the other hand, other scholars disagree that American fast food brands are that good for China if they increase health problems and promote conformist and materialistic values (Oââ¬â¢Connor 162; Zhang, der Lans, and Dagevos 88). The positive effects of the American fast food industry on Chinese society are the promotion of aspirations for success, freedom, equality, and humanity in general and a successful global business model for Chinese businesses in specific, although the American fast food industry also poses the negative effects of poor health and the spreading potentially harmful cultural practices of conformity and superficiality. One of the positive effects of American fast food brands on Chinese culture is the promotion of positive ideals of success. Many Chinese go to Western fast food outlets to experience the American lifestyle, which is largely connected to material success. Chinese consumers want the ââ¬Å"slice of Americaâ⬠that Dan Roberts writes about (168). Lynn Guenette agrees with Roberts because of examples of Chinese consumers do not want to eat rice and congee in McDonaldââ¬â¢s because they want to taste American brands and feel emotionally connected to the success of these brands (8). She cites China Daily, where Jeffrey Schwartz, McDonaldââ¬â¢s China CEO explains that, in their focus group studies of Chinese consumers, many of them say that they come to McDonaldââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"because [it is] a Western brand, if [they] want to eat rice or congee [they] can eat it at homeâ⬠¦[they] want to sample the Western brandâ⬠(Guenette 8). Guenette says that the Chinese see America n brands and American success as one: ââ¬Å"Beingà ââ¬Ëwesternââ¬â¢Ã isà aà prerequisiteà forà successâ⬠(4).à The Chinese want American brands because America stands for success and those who consume its brands access status symbols of success. Roberts notes that, though some groups are falling out of love of American brands because of U.S. foreign

That means that the costs have to be relatively lower so that the company can achieve its desired margin. Brand equity refers to the positioning of the company products. Positioning is a critical part of marketing because it directly affects the sales volume of a company. The first issue that the director of marketing should deal with should be brand equity. Brand equity will include the positioning of the companyââ¬â¢s products. That involves the advertising part of marketing. The company should come up with the target market in which it should direct its marketing towards. That will ensure that the company does not waste its funds on unnecessary marketing. That will enable the company to locate its products in retail stores in which most of its customers population reside in. that will increase the sales volume of the company and that will make the product mo re profitable (Ali 8). After the brand positioning has been established, the next part will be brand sales. Brand sales will involve the company increasing the sales volume. Workplace Safety Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Workplace Safety - Essay Example (Gustafson, 2011). This article reflects on an issue that involves a severe attack on the employee Rich Dean by a dangerous prisoner Lehtinen. Dean is seriously distressed by the news that Oregon hospital will not have to deal with any sanctions in regard to the violent incident even after a long workplace safety inspection undertaken by Oregonââ¬â¢s Occupational Safety and Health Division (OSHA). This decision by OSHA led Dean to present his issues with the results of the investigation in an interview. Dean voiced facts that set in contrast to the justifications presented by OSHA. According to OSHA, Dean issued a citation against the hospitalââ¬â¢s security administration on no grounds. This is because the hospital has always adopted satisfactory security measures and conducted safety assessments before the grave attack on Dean occurred. Also, there had been no violent attacks on any hospital employee by the jail inmates before that incident and high-profile assault prevention training is also given to the employees according to the OSHA report. Now, Dean claimed that when he was attacked by Lehtinen, the two other employees dog-piled on him and Lehtinen, which gave Lehtinen an easy access to land heavy kicks on Deanââ¬â¢s eyes, shoulders, and neck. Had it not been for the careless action of the two other security men, Dean would surely have saved himself from Lehtinenââ¬â¢s attacks. Also, the emergency alarm system was sadly out of function at the time of the assault.

Further puzzling is that he did not have any type of police record (Western Mail, 2008). Reported as an outstanding student when he attended the university, it was found that Kazmierczak has been treated temporarily for mental illness as a result of unruly behaviour toward his parents in his early teens (Daily Post, 2008). Edit and adjust accordingly Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Edit and adjust accordingly - Essay Example Agency source of power has to do with the power to make decisions on the use of the agencyââ¬â¢s human and material resources. This includes the restructuring of the organization, changing staff schedules, unbundling of production process or entering into strategic partnership for the purpose of improving quality of goods and services and/or empowering clients. Closely related to agency source of power is legitimate power. This is the power one has by virtue of his position in an organization. Having legitimate powers means having authority or control over the behaviours and performances of others. The president of a company has legitimate power over all other employees of the company. He can give every other person orders and expect him/her to obey. Expert power is the power that even individuals at the lower levels of the organizational structure can acquire and accumulate. The possession of superior knowledge, ideas, skill, experience and abilities, and how these are used can earn one reputation and power. An employee with expert power is a master in his professional niche and he can use the power s/he accumulates to sway others into taken decisions that affect the overall functioning of the organization. Until my employment, the company I am working with was into hotel business. It nearly crumbled due to superior competition. The business was sustained with returns from the presidentââ¬â¢s plantation. The ââ¬Ëmanagementââ¬â¢ of the hotel was then lead by a president and had two-level organizational structure. No line managers. No board meetings. It was small. Every employee reported to the president. Two of the four senior employees were sons of the president. They were presidents-in-the-waiting. The business was on the verge of been mismanaged as family business if not for the presidentââ¬â¢s foresightedness. He knew his children were incapable of managing the inherited business. The hotel needed

Compare two poetry Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1
Compare two poetry - Essay Example of another indispensable character, the speakerââ¬â¢s son, Tichborne necessitates first person point of view for the narrating individual who is himself the central subject of the piece ââ¬Å"My Prime of Youth is But a Frost of Caresâ⬠. Through the work of Jonson, the reader is engaged into the grieving sentiment of a man whose first son yield to a seemingly untimely death which the father recounts in bitter yet fond memories of affection, expressing ââ¬Å"Farewell, thou child of my right hand, and joy.â⬠As the text progresses in monologue, it appears as though the man illustrates how he has been through suffering and pain with the child yet despite this, he exhibits remorse, stating ââ¬Å"My sin was too much hope of thee, lovââ¬â¢d boy.â⬠One could be drawn to perceive a scenario of a literally dying son whom the father chooses not to save for another great cause or ground more essential than life. On exclaiming ââ¬Å"O, could I lose all father now!â⬠the speaker acknowledges his own weakness and shortfall at being incapable of executing an act of salvation for his offspring. Eventually he seeks to be justified, nevertheless, upon rationalizing ââ¬Å"For why / Will Man lament the state he sh ould envy?â⬠and this makes a smooth transition from the stage where he could have fully relished all guilt and put the burden on himself. To him, he would rather see a dead son than witness a child struggle with harsh realities of living when there is nothing he could do, remaining helpless for the loved one. It would be felt that no matter how difficult it is for the man to make the decision of letting go, allowing his sonââ¬â¢s demise may be alternatively understood in the light of an outstanding love that would never afford to have someone subject to prolonged exposure to misery. On the other hand, Tichborne employs a similar tone of loss and regret for the character in the elegy ââ¬Å"My Prime of Youth is But a Frost of Caresâ⬠, this time however, the man speaks of himself and of his
